Night to Shine Treasure Coast - Guest FAQ
1. What is Night to Shine?
Night to Shine is a prom event designed to celebrate individuals with special needs, aged 14 and older. It is hosted annually and is free for all participants. The event is part of a global movement by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
2. Who can attend Night to Shine?
The event is open to anyone aged 14 and older who has special needs. Every guest is welcomed and celebrated as a king or queen for the night.
3. How do I register to attend?
Guests will need to register in advance through the Night to Shine Treasure Coast website beginning January 3rd. Registration details will be provided as the event approaches. Space is limited, so it’s recommended to sign up early.
4. Is there a cost to attend?
No, Night to Shine is completely free for all guests. This includes access to all event activities, food, and entertainment.
5. What can I expect at the event?
Guests will experience a red carpet welcome with cheering volunteers, limousine rides, hair and makeup stations, karaoke, dancing, photo opportunities, and other activities. Each guest will be paired with a "buddy" to guide them through the night and ensure they have a great experience.
6. Can parents or caregivers attend?
While parents and caregivers are not part of the prom itself, there will be a designated area for them to relax and enjoy refreshments while their loved ones participate in the event. They are also welcome to participate by volunteering as their Guest’s Buddy but they MUST be a registered Volunteer.
7. Is the venue accessible?
Yes, the event is hosted at an accessible venue that is designed to accommodate guests with varying needs. The Night to Shine team ensures that the event is inclusive and accessible to everyone.
8. What should guests wear?
Guests are encouraged to wear formal attire to the event, but if that isn’t possible, come as you are! The goal is for everyone to feel special, whether dressed up or casual.

9. What should I do if I need special accommodations?
If any guest require any specific accommodations (such as dietary needs, mobility assistance, etc.), please indicate this during the registration process. Our team will work to make sure your needs are met.

For our Volunteers
1. How can I volunteer for Night to Shine?
You can sign up to volunteer through the Night to Shine Treasure Coast website. Registration for volunteers typically opens a few months before the event. We welcome volunteers in a variety of roles, including serving as a “buddy” for guests or helping with activities, decorations, and event logistics.
2. What is a “buddy,” and what do they do?
A buddy is paired with one of our honored guests for the evening. Your role as a buddy is to accompany your guest throughout the night, ensuring they have a fun and memorable experience by participating in activities such as dancing, karaoke, photos, and more. Buddies are responsible for providing encouragement and companionship while ensuring the safety of their guests.
3. What other volunteer roles are available?
In addition to being a buddy, volunteers are needed for setup and cleanup, assisting with hair and makeup stations, helping with photography, serving food, managing the red carpet, greeting guests, and more. You can choose the role that best fits your skills and availability when you register.
4. Do volunteers need any special training?
Yes, all volunteers will attend a training session to ensure they understand their roles and how to best support the guests. The training will cover event logistics, safety protocols, and how to work with individuals with special needs. These trainings are:
January 30th at 6:00 at the Fenn Center OR February 1st at 10:00 at Genesis Community Church (6666 US1- Behind the St. Lucie Draft House).
5. Is there an age requirement to volunteer?
Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to be a Buddy. Some roles do allow for younger volunteers with adult supervision. Be sure to check specific details when registering, or contact the event team if you have questions about age limitations.
6. Do I need any prior experience working with individuals with special needs?
No prior experience is necessary to volunteer. We will provide the training and support you need to ensure you feel comfortable and prepared for the event. A caring heart, patience, and enthusiasm are the most important qualities for volunteers.
7. Can I volunteer with a group?
Yes, group volunteer opportunities are available! If you’re part of a school, church, business, or organization and would like to volunteer as a group, please contact the event team for details on how to register and assign roles.
8. What should I wear as a volunteer?
Volunteers, especially buddies, are encouraged to dress in formal or semi-formal attire, as it is a prom event. If you are working in another capacity (setup, logistics, etc.), please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. More detailed dress guidelines will be shared during training. No jeans will be permitted. Guests working in food service should wear all black.
9. Will there be food provided for volunteers?
Yes, food will be provided for volunteers after the event. There will be water stations and quick snacks available for the volunteers throughout the event.
10. What time do I need to arrive?
Volunteers are typically asked to arrive no later than 5:00 for final instructions and setup. Exact arrival times will be provided during your training or in a pre-event email specific to your role.
